RIOJA ALTA

MURIEL WINES IN RIOJA ALTA

In general terms, the grape production area nestles in a valley bounded by two large mountain ranges, the Sierra de Cantabria and the Sistema Ibérico, forming a space with great geographical diversity:

Rioja Alta: In this area, there is great variability in geographical terms, ranging from the small vineyards perched on terraces near the Sierra de Cantabria to those laid out on flat plateaus.

Calcareous clayey soils with low fertility which ensure that the vines develop in a well-balanced way. As a result, they have great potential for producing high quality grapes.

Although the soils are poor, they are relatively moist, which allows the vines to withstand periods of drought very well.

The vineyards are situated at an average height of 500 metres making them ideal for maintaining the freshness and acidity of the wines.

20 Ha of vines divided into over 40 individual vineyards which leads to very high variability within the same type of grape - Tempranillo or Viura.

Wines with a very intense fruitiness and a clearly noticeable minerality. Well-structured and well-balanced acidity that gives them great aging potential.
