CALCAREOUS CLAY
- Whitish colour due to its high clay content.
- Typically found in small vineyards.
- Well-structured wines with a concentration of colour that are very characteristic of the Rioja Alavesa.
ALLUVIAL
- Mainly in the valley soils near the rivers.
- Fertile beige-coloured soils with good drainage.
- Rich in siliceous and calcareous gravel
- Fresh wines with a lighter structure and a very pronounced fruity flavour.
CLAYEY FERROUS
- Reddish ochre colour due to their high iron content.
- More fertile than calcareous clayey soils.
- Fresh, half-bodied wines.
STONY SOILS
- Found in some areas near the Ebro and in high areas such as our Yerga estate.
- Surface with light-coloured calcareous pebbles with a spherical shape.
- Good drainage.
- Very good at retaining the heat of the day, so helping regulate the temperature of the plant.
- Very fresh, aromatic wines, with a good structure and concentration.
